Esther

My favourite bible character is Esther, the brave queen. Let me tell you a little bit about the story of Esther. One day a king, called Ahasuerus was having a party. He asked his wife to come to the party to show off the crown but she said “NO!” King Ahasuerus decided to banish her from the Kingdom. Then an idea came into his head. He asked all the young woman to come to the palace. A certain young woman, called Esther, who was a Jew, was taken to the palace.

King Ahasuerus favoured Esther above the other woman. She was the chosen queen. Some time later a boastful man called Haman made a rule that every man should bow down to him. Esther’s uncle, Mordecai, didn’t bow down and because of this, Haman made another rule that every Jew should be killed (Mordecai was a Jew). Disastrously, Esther would be killed. Esther needed to go to the king but although she wasn’t invited and it was very dangerous, she trusted in God, fasted and prayed for 3 days and then went. However, she bravely went and asked him if he and Haman could come to the feast. Of course He said yes. At the second feast, Esther reveals that she is a Jew and tells of Haman’s plot. The king ordered that Haman should be hung and the Jews are saved.

I love this Bible character because if the Jews were killed, Jesus couldn’t have came into the world as our Saviour. Esther is a very wonderful woman. She is very brave and full of grit. She trusted in Christ, her Saviour - do you?

Esther 4:14b: “And who knows whether you have not come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?”
